If you are a writer, find a way to spend some time away from your daily routine and it will help your focus. I’m lucky enough to have a wonderfully supportive husband and friends with an empty sailboat so I’m hiding out in a warm place and getting to know Daniel Solstice Landon, an almost seventeen year old with leukemia who fancies Holden Caulfield as his best friend. Learning and creating, swimming and napping, life is very very good. And just having the opportunity when so many writers have to eke out minutes in between doctor’s visits with children and 50 hour a week jobs is humbling, creates a huge incentive to make this book count as something special.
